Balls And Pratfalls – ABC and Activison Bring You Wipeout: The Game

Activision has announced plans for a video game based on ABC’s summer game show Wipeout for the Nintendo DS and Wii.  Players have to dodge a series of obstacles (the Sucker Punch, the Sweeper, the iconic Big Balls) to make it to the Wipeout Zone. Wipeout: The Game will feature four-player gameplay and no small amount of pratfalls.

“Watching ABC’s ‘Wipeout’ on TV is outrageous fun, and viewers can’t help but dream of trying the obstacles themselves,” said David Oxford, Activision Publishing. “We designed the video game with this in mind. Wipeout: The Game brings all of the challenge and laugh-out-loud hilarity without the pain.”

Wipeout is essentially Ninja Warrior, only nobody goes to ridiculous lengths to train, it actually looks fun to compete in, and, let’s face it the only real winners are the audience at home.

As a game show, it always the potential to be an interesting party game. As an actual party game…more importantly, as a party game where you get to tackle crazy obstacles while throwing things at your friends who are also tackling crazy obstacles…everyone’s a winner.

This sounds like it’s just screaming to be Natal/Move compatible. I can’t imagine it being much fun just sitting on the couch watching your character get nailed in the sack. But jumping around, flailing wildly while it happens? Sign me up!

The thing that would make this game elite is to have a seemingly limitless amount of character curses after they have been eliminated.
