Props to Blizzard for putting out some of the greatest games, but shame on them for taking so long to do it. They are masters of seduction and building anticipation. They lead us fans like a pervert leads kids to his panel van – one piece of candy at a time. We bite their baited hooks with vigor, and knowing full well there is no telling when we’ll be reeled in. We submit to this abuse because their games kick tail.
With this confidence in Blizzard’s ability produce, we fans await Diablo III like waiting for the summer to come.
Though the marketing team has wisely restricted the release of information pertaining to the game, it seems that this one will follow in Diablo II’s footsteps. There will be familiar classes, characters, and story references. Yes, Deckard Cain will be there. This game wouldn’t be worth playing if that crotchety old man weren’t a part of it.
Details of the story line are almost nil, which is probably for the best. However, information on player classes exists. The infamous Barbarian is sure to make an appearance. Accompanying him is the Wizard, Witch Doctor, and the Monk. Though the Monk is the result of direct creative robbery from Everquest, he promises to add potency to the game. The introduction of a Monk is perhaps one of the more legitimate character ideas. Though players welcome a hard knuckled flying kicker, I doubt the real Shaolin Monks will approve.

There is no set release date, so it’s a good idea to hunker down and save up those sick days. When the game hits the shelves you’ll be able to miraculously become stricken with the swine flu.
Blizzard claims to be focusing on cooperative play both on and off battlenet. There will be some PvP, but this was never the role of Diablo II, and it won’t be the role of Diablo III. Havok-powered physics will complement a new graphics engine. So, the visual side should be spectacular with its lush environments and hordes of enemies. System requirements are still under wraps, but it’s probably a safe bet to rebuild that clunker machine that rattles at your feet.
Here’s to waiting on you Diablo III. Rock on.

I can’t wait. I lost many hours to Diablo II. I am sure the sequel deserves the same respect.
I am actually waiting to update my computer for this game and Starcraft II specifically. They’re the only PC games worth it, everything else is better on console.
And I think it’s taken so long in part because of the drama at Blizzard.
But it will be awesome, no doubt about that.
