DJ Hero Has a Plan to Make Even More Money

I’ve never played DJ Hero. I saw a kid playing it in the Best Buy demo area once…he wasn’t very good. Or maybe it’s the game that wasn’t very good, I don’t remember. Anyway, the point is, it’s apparently a pretty popular game. After all, it is the the #1 new videogame intellectual property of 2009. Which I think means people like to play it a lot, and it’s not a sequel to anything.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the game, DJ Hero features a plethora of songs from a lot of people with the letters “D” and “J” in front of their names. It allows players to experience and interact with music in a whole new way. And now it’s about to get better.

It's DJ something-or-other!

Behold, a new era of unprecedented awesomeness for DJ Hero in the clever guise of Eminem and JAY-Z. Jamie Jackson, Creative Director of FreeStyleGames, puts it succinctly: “From sold out concerts to #1 albums to double digit Grammy Awards, JAY-Z and Eminem define what it means to be a successful artist.” Indeed. So getting their songs for DJ Hero must define what it means to have a successful game. Well, an even more successful game.

The JAY-Z vs. Eminem Mix Pack features the following exclusive mash-ups:
“Shake That” by Eminem Mixed With “Show Me What You Got” by JAY-Z
“Without Me” by Eminem Mixed With “Encore” by JAY-Z
“Can I Get A…” by JAY-Z Mixed With “Lose Yourself” by Eminem

As of yesterday this song pack is available for sale on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 640 Microsoft Points ($8). the Mix Pack will be available on PSN for the PS3 starting March 25, also for $8 (technically $7.99). All mixes will be released as downloadable singles for Wii the same day as PS3 for 300 Wii Points each.

This addition means that DJ Hero officially has over 100 songs available to play.

Now go out there and mix it up, DJ style! (I’m not sure what that means)

I might consider buying these tracks if the game were actually fun. Call me crazy but the fact that you can’t fail just takes all the fun out of it.
