About the game:
Hey guys! Welcome one and all to my God of Axion: alpha
thread. Alright a quick briefing of me before I get on with the nitty gritty. I
am the embassier for God of Axion. We have been hard at work forging the game
into a wonderful mix of developer ideas and community feedback/insight. We are
looking to continue this trend. I have come to visit since we are looking for
more players in the 2nd round of this game’s alpha. We love the community we
have going right now and desire to only build upon it.
At the GoA forums I'm known as rsern. Don’t be hesitant to
say hello or chat it up with me or ask something about the game.
I want to do my part to get the word out on this gem. Help
make this game awesome!
So what's it all about? God of Axion is a free to play
browser based strategy game set in the sky, before the world as we know it
formed. The point of the game is to gather as many resources as possible (often
at the cost of others) and claim the throne of the God of Axion.
Fellow PVP lovers will eat this game right up….or get
eaten alive. :p I've played the hell out of Ikariam, Travian, Evony, and a few
others, and what I find most enjoyable about God of Axion is that it really
caters to the PVP crowd. Since the game is alive, you're always thinking about
your tactics and opponents.
Some of the harder pills to swallow will be making a truce
with a guy who has been onslaughting your islands but somehow you both joined
the same alliance. Why? Because alliances from other games will probably hoarde
over to Axion by the pack-ful, and to survive against them, you will need to
make smart decisions without the emotions. :)
Suffice it to say that since this game caters to PvP, it
will therefore cater to those who love alliances and being in said exclusive
clubs. The battles get pretty epic.
Tidbits:
There are a few things that have stuck out like a sore thumb
regarding God of Axion.
1) Dev support- awesome dev support so far. Just loving it
to bits. The head dev, Scott, responds to all bugs, questions, and suggestions
like a boss and shows it in the next updates. I think this is the first time
I've ever felt a dev
really listened. You hear about devs listening in to their audience in PR
statements, but this is on a whole other level. I urge all game devs to put
this much effort! It should be standard, jeez.
2) Community- Community so far is heavy on hardcore players
who are intelligent, polite, and love to wage wars. Trolls and FFFUUUU rage
types not really welcome. :)
3) PvP factor- Like I said, the battles, they are quite epic
for sure. This is just IMO, but I think what's better than the epicness is the
sense of satisfaction from just one victory. It feels good to log in the next
day, see that not only did your troops make it home from battle, but that they
also came back with lots of resources from the victory.

Units are broken down to that of regular infantry (Phalanx,
Archer, Swordsman, and the Scout). With research, you can align yourself with
an element (earth, water, fire, air) and produce the hell out of it.
Not just that, you'll also be able to unlock elemental units. I have Fire, and can summon Ifrit, Fire Salamander, and a few others.
These are incredibly powerful units and require preparation and upkeep.
The meat of the PVP is in getting as many units out but also granting them blessings.
The blessings system is quite deep, and we have yet to see
just how deep this rabbit hole goes. Currently we’re allowed to cast all sorts
of blessings to our troops, structures, and resource production. More research
unlocks bigger and better blessings, but they come at a cost of Faith. Watch
out because people will want to steal your faith at every raid opportunity! In
this fantastical universe, it’s worth more than gold itself.
Structures:

Each island (and you can get more with research) gives you
11 spots to build structures. There are way more than 11 kinds of buildings you
can prop up, so how you go about it is part of your tact. Regardless of which way you go about your business, the game provides you with reports of all work you do on all islands, for free. Kinda makes me [really] regret putting money for reports in other games since Axion does it for free, but I digress.
FAQS:
Q: Is this browser strategy MMO enjoyed most alone or with
friends?
A: With friends
Q: Will this game have Android/Iphone support?
A: Devs said yes, and to be rolled out “very soon”.
Q: Alliance support?
A: Yes
Q: Setting:?
A: “Tired of Greece and Rome? The ancient empires were
remarkable, but the TRULY ancient empires were even better! Come back to before
the world was formed, where islands float in the sky filled with dragons and
elemental creatures.”
Q: Are there battle/structure/trade reports?
A: Yes, and they are free.
Q: Regions covered?
A: From what I read, worldwide.
Q: Anything that stands out from other browser strategy MMOs
that seem to be rinse/repeat?
A: The blessing system, one that we are getting a preview through
the alpha, really flips the genre on its head. You can cast spells on yourself
and on others, and how it works out is very interesting. There is also a
weather system that is continually worked on and expanded, and it is integrated
into the high end gameplay. Devs also stated there is a rich achievements
system in the pipeline.
