Does anyone have any knowledge of sound equiptment?

I'm looking for a high quality portable digital audio recorder. It has to have a XLR input so I can attach a boom mic to it. I'm think the low end of professional quality. It doesn't have to be perfect, just without any obvious flaws (hissing, crackling, etc.)
