The Halo: Reach Multiplayer Beta is out for the public on May 3rd, but Bungie has fed our curiosity with this trailer. I’ll try to sum it up in one word.
DAMN.
This trailer shows off all sorts of new features for Reach online, including a few game modes. Some additions stand out more than others. For instance, Elites can now “dodge roll” out of harms way. Spartans get jetpacks. You’re reading this correctly. JETPACKS. Assassination animations are no longer regular melees, they have their own animation.
The trailer also showed off an assortment of new weapons. A new piece of equipment appears to be a personal Bubble Shield, which seems to be able to inflict damage to other players. Momentarily shown was a handgun that appears to fire a blue beam. Another weapon seems to be a first-person Covenant based Missle Pod. A redesigned SMG was also shown. The previously announced Needle Rifle also got some screentime. We also caught glimpses of the redesigned Assault Rifle, Battle Rifle, Rocket Launcher, and more.
