Recently getting Super Mario Bros for the Wii as a Christmas gift, I’ve been enjoying playing in the new penguin suit and helicopter suit, along with three of my friends as we scramble to get coins, power up and pretty much just be jerks to each other, tossing each other off ledges. It’s great to see Mario back on the big consoles in his usual 2-D form and, of course, he hasn’t lost his touch in the past 20+ years. This, though, only serves as a distraction as I await the 4th quarter to get my sweaty gamer hands on Super Mario Galaxy 2.
What seems like eons ago, I got Super Mario Galaxy for Christmas and loved every minute of it. I still have not completed it 100% to this day (really getting aggravated with those purple coins) and I still find myself going back and playing levels some levels that I really liked, just for the hell of it. I liked the concept that it brought to Mario, traveling to the different galaxies, introducing players to the stars and new power ups, such as the bee suit and the spring, which was a personal favorite. All the classics were there, along with haunted mansions, the boos, Bowser and the battle ships!
All these just made me want more, and as usual with hit games, Nintendo made just that happen. The trailer released at the 2009 E3, the trailer showed more of the game play that made the first such a joy to play with some new looking levels and concepts thrown in. Also shown in the trailer were some new powers ups, one being a drill that Mario can carry around and go from one side of the galaxy planet, to the next. The other major addition to the second installment is Mario’s lovable dinosaur Yoshi, seen eating up plants and enemies and blasting through space with his mustached pal. The galaxies look even more diverse, the game play looks similar with a few new twists. Though I didn’t see any, I hope that the ball levels return, even though I began to hate those with a passion. With E3 coming up soon, I hope we can see more of this and maybe see more game play and a lot more of the new levels and power ups.

I think that the classic parts of marrio are the best parts to put into games. and i agree, the 2d mario is better than 3d
