If you don’t own the God of War collection (GoW I and II) for PS3, you’re missing out on the best part – the God of War III demo code that comes with it. Supposedly you can get the code from the Blu-Ray of District 9 as well. I certainly don’t own the collection or the movie, but I have a friend who owns the collection. Luckily, I was able to bum the code off of him. Let me tell you, I dropped Dante’s Inferno like it was in that Snoop Dogg song. I may just keep playing the demo and return Dante’s Inferno to Best Buy.
As far as I can tell, Dante’s Inferno did everything right. I haven’t beaten the game yet, but so far it plays very well and is quite enjoyable. I don’t have any complaints. Maybe a couple annoyances, but they’re negligible. Overall Dante’s Inferno was very well done.
Too bad for EA that Sony’s God of War III overshadows it completely.
Dante is a poor stand-in for Kratos. A journey through hell to rescue your one true love has nothing on a quest for revenge against the gods themselves. The epic nature of Kratos’ tale is unlike anything else. Play through the first two GoW games if you haven’t yet. They’re at the top of the gaming food chain.
The demo immediately drops you into the action. And what fantastic action! The gameplay is everything you’ve come to expect from the series. Kratos slices fluidly through baddies using his blades, or pounds them using his newest toy – giant metal, spiked boxing gloves. He can also grab enemies to use like a meat shield as he plows through big crowds. They show off their innovation by giving you access to a host of combos that you have to see to truly appreciate.
Everyone already knew the graphics would be amazing, but I was impressed by the level of detail they gave the world you play in. Everything looks polished, down the the backdrops. Not to mention the usual focus on high quality blood and gore.
One of the final parts has you racing up through a tunnel to the surface of the earth, avoiding obstacles on the way. I was terrible at this part and had to play it well over a dozen times. Yet, I never got frustrated. This marks the first time in my gaming career where replaying something multiple times was actually exciting.
Apparently the demo should be released to the general public at some point close to the release of the game, but why wait? Find some way to get your hands on a code and enjoy it today, possibly this very second. Okay, probably not this second.
If you’re not wetting your pants in anticipation of this game, you need to seriously reconsider the decisions you’ve made in your life up to this point.

Wow I’m a fool. I’ve had the District 9 Blu-ray for months now and I did not know about my free demo. To the PS3!
There isn’t a sticker on the front advertising such?
Not on the front. There’s likely a flyer inside, but seeing as I still have yet to open it, I cannot say. I know, I know, I chumpatized myself.
District 9 was a great movie, but I bought it on blu ray for the GOW3 demo, and then ended up not playing it for like 3 weeks after. It was over 3 gigs to install man. That took forever.
