I mentioned League of Legends in my review of Heroes of Newerth, both games are based on the Warcraft 3 Mod DotA. Now, League of Legends is from Riot Games, and has some of the Key developers that helped with DotA.
The first huge difference I noticed about this game and its rival HoN is that it has a tutorial. This is very nice for new players. Also LoL has the ability to create a private game with bots. I used to this option to really get a feel for the game and the different heroes. I found the initial game set up interface to be a bit clunky. I gathered that you have to buy the game to unlock all the heroes in the game. The graphics and art seem a little more unique then HoN in the sense that it doesn’t look exactly like World of Warcraft. Over all for 30$ I would choose League of Legends over Heroes of Newerth anyday. If your looking for an alternative to DotA, this is your best bet.
