The Pokemon games have always been some of my favorites. I’ve happily wasted at least 3000 hours on Pokemon over the years. Thats on the handheld games alone. My only real complaint is bidoof, why did they make bidoof? (If Pokemon were real I would punch every bidoof I encountered right in the face.) So when I heard they were remaking Gold/Silver versions on DS, and that EVERY Pokemon could follow me like pikachu could in yellow, I just knew that there was at least a week that pretty much nothing would get done, and would be spent with every waking moment focused on two screens that would be glowing the glory of Pokemon. This didn’t happen, in fact the opposite happened,. I went for walks. Lots of walks.
This was not because the new game was bad or didn’t live up to expectations. It was everything I had hoped for (well excluding the removal of bidoof from existence and a letter of apology for its creation.) The pokewalker happened, and at first I was not at all impressed with the stupid little pokeball shaped pedometer that accompanied my Soul Silver version, but now I can’t put the stupid little thing down, at least when I’m not walking just to get more watts so I can play with it more. It’s basically a permanent addition to my belt.
FYI having a pokeball in plain sight attached to you as an adult will have some unintended results:
Parents won’t want you within 10 feet of their children.
10 year olds may approach you to exchange gifts (often followed shortly by a parent who snatches the kid away before you get your item!).
You will be carded for absolutely everything every time.
You will have to explain what it is to any one who played Pokemon when they were kids, but outgrew it.
All side effects aside, it is still way more fun than a pedometer has any right to be.

Pokemon’s Back!!!
I recently traded in all my Pokemon stuff because my Pokemon friends quit. I’m starting to regret it a little more because of this.
I too share your dislike of Bidoof.
