Innovation is a hell of a thing. Games are no longer just a box and another box with wires; now we have motion sensors, interactive networks, touchscreens, tons of game peripherals to bring us as closer to our virtual roles as we can. The fire that video games has created has only just begun to burn, and it burns bright. We have Rock Band and other music games, we have the Wii’s many innovatiive games, we games like Buzz where we are the show, and we even have games that help us to lose weight or learn a different language. They’re everywhere we look and in places that we might not look. Yes, we’ve got it pretty good in the electronic world, but somewhere across the world, someone’s coming up with the next step.
Who will bring it? What will it be? It could be any one of us, and I’m expecting big things.
Sony is trying very hard to get 3D into television, and just think of what that would be like to see everything moving right past you in your house.
“Project Natal” by Microsoft is coming closer and closer. You don’t need a controller for this because you are the controller.
Project Natal still doesn’t show us anything too breathtaking as far as games we’d pay $60 or so for, but it’s only a matter of time before we get a 3D interactive environment, and one day, we’ll have to outdo that. Now just think of what will happen when we cross that kind of technology with our networking capabilities – maybe one day, we’ll be on the TV, having a fun game of slayer gunning down our friends in Europe, or getting “served” for real by some kid in Japan, all in the middle of our living rooms.
Of course, this is all hypothetical and years before its time, and we could have flying cars before we have such complex video game systems, but the next time people tell you that you’re wasting your money on video games, you just tell them that you’re contributing to innovation, the great things that will one day be here. Happy gaming everyone.

Sounds pretty tight except Microsoft announced about a week ago that they were postponing if not cancelling the build of Natal because the Economy and Technology aren’t ready.
Yeah, that sucks that it won’t be out sooner, but someone’s gonna come out with it eventually. Microsoft introduced a cool concept, but it is definitely not one that we’re ready for. Natal would flop if it came out in the next year, but give it a couple more, and I think we might all catch on.
