Good vs Evil. Ali vs Frazier. Godzilla vs Mothra. Sony vs Microsoft. PC vs Consoles. Throughout the ages there have been war. In the original days it was Atari vs Commodore, but the 1st real Console War wasn’t until the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo went head to head in the early 90′s. If you truly wish to continue your path to video game enlightenment, then this is where you must get your hands dirty. This is the 3rd step: Loyalty.
After the 16-bit wars, all was quiet until about 10 years later when an uprising at Microsoft launched the 1st shots that would eventually start the 2nd Console War: Sony’s Playstation 3 battling Microsoft’s own Xbox 360.
You must draw your line in the sand. You must have the nerve and strength of will to defend your console in the face of absolute defeat.
Better graphics? We have blast processing and the blood code. Oh, your system gets better ports of games? Well, at least I don’t suck.
This is the dirtiest step on the Path to Video Game Enlightenment. It is, however, a necessary evil if we are to move on in the coming steps.
So, pick your side. Which console do you, did you, defend with your last breath?
When I was a kid, I went with Sega. Sonic was cool and I loved Altered Beast in the arcades. My friend and I would go back and forth until we were blue in the face about how our console was better than the others.
These days in the Console Wars, I have sold 2 Wii’s, and our 360 is a paper weight. In the Lucha house, we each have our own personal PlayStation 3. We chose Sony because of Blu-ray and the free online networking is choice. The Frat-Box 360 may have your exclusives (Halo, Gears of War, 12 year-olds on XBL), but the PS3 has class, style and Hilarious commercials. Oh, and we have Uncharted.
It’s not too late to join The Path to Video Game Enlightenment.

Well, I was with you when you started with Sega. I did the exact same thing with my friend for years.
But that is where I draw my line. I stand behind the player power behind the 360. Online player power, that is. What good is a free online networking when it is subject to random fits of pandemonium that make it impossible to even enjoy single player games because Sony forces you to attach your most intimate gaming moments to the hard drive and PSN? What good is Blu-Ray when everything is switching to online viewership? Did I mention Netflix came to the 360 first?
Oh yeah, and if I had to choose between a sweet fighting game with Natal’s technology, and something in 3D which would cost me everything I owned, my two kidneys, and a piece of my soul, I’d choose Natal. F what everyone else says about it.
…s’all I got for now. That was really fun!
I’ve drawn my line. PS3.
I love them both the same. PS3 for God of War III and Xbox 360 for Mass Effect 2.
Each has it’s advantages and I’m glad I can play every game worth playing, no matter what platform it’s on.
I personally just think the PS3 offers more for the money. I like it and I stick by it. In terms off old systems …. I really didnt care I didnt get to play much as a kid so when I did I was just happy to play. Nowadays though since most people dont have the money to buy both systems I would and have definitely supported the PS3. I own both and I’m just not really into the exclusives that the 360 has if it wasnt for Fable I wouldnt have even bought one. Good article baby, this is an article that easily gets people talking.
