Here’s one for all you WoW addicts fans out there, the good people over at Sound Blaster have created a World of Warcraft Headset series just for you! No longer will concerned roommates/girlfriend/neighbors/home invaders be able to ease their fears of your addiction obsession sexual perversion interest in WoW by convincing themselves that you’re “just writing another work e-mail to Mr. Phipps down at the office, which is clearly very important, and that’s why you’re glued to the computer … like you have been for the past 14 hours.” Nope, with these bad boys strapped to your skull, there will be no denying that you are, in fact, the king of all teh raidz, and thus completely justified in your yelling at that f—king priest who can’t take his eyes off the health bars for one damned second to dispel. AND THE DETACHABLE MIC WILL MAKE IT SOUND SO CRYSTAL CLEAR, HE’LL THINK YOUR RIGHT NEXT TO HIM COMPLAINING ABOUT HIS SUBOPTIMAL SPEC (really, dude, lightwell?)!
Available in both a wired ($119.99) and wireless ($159.99) configuration, these headphones will bring you THX TruStudio PC surround sound technology. Using the interchangeable faction lenses and customizable illumination, you’ll let all foolish enough to try and hold a conversation with you while you’re raiding know if you’re keepin’ it fresh it FOR THE HORDE or you’re just some Alliance trash mistakenly left over from beta.
I suppose you could don both faction lenses at once, as pictured above, in some sort of foolishly misguided attempt at neutrality. If you did that, though, I’d be forced to ask my first officer, “What makes a man turn neutral?” then proceed bomb the hell out of your planet.
In all seriousness, these headphones do look pretty sweet. It is convenient that the faction lenses are interchangeable, meaning you won’t have to commit to just one set of headphones (two for the price of one! or something). They connect via USB, which is probably a plus for audio consistency, but it also means that these puppies are compy-dedicated; no iPod for them!
A fantastically useful optional accessory available for use with the headset is the Voice Tap, a pedal (yes, for your feetsies) that you can assign to the push-to-talk keybinding, keeping your fingers free to manage your rotation and maintain your the DPS. Seriously, that right there is the selling point. Pedals + WoW = about time. We’ve used this technology in cars for millions (source?) of years now, it’s about time we integrate it over into the World.
Bottom line, if you’re a guild or raid leader, these seem like a no-brainer. The most frustrating thing about Vent is when some fool with his pants on the ground is talking softly into a mic twelve yards from his face, and no one can here him chastising leading the raid. With the mic glued directly do your face, and the convieneinty themed Sound Blaster WoW Audio Control Panel, you should be able to get the output at its optimum level for hearing you tell that druid to stop healing and just wipe. For everyone else, if you’re raiding pretty regularly, these could be a sound (hi-oh!) investment. Remember, communication is key to successful raiding, otherwise how would people know when they’re failing?
The Sound Blaster World of Warcraft Headset series are currently available for pre-order over at Amazon, and a fancy little brochure can be found here.

Before you even say it, I know that the Flintstone’s car had no pedals. ‘Twas a joke, you see. A mere jest.
Man, I could care less about the factions, since I’m an alt-whore either way, but the pedals make it suh-weet. I inevitably talk shit about someone on Vent thinking, forgetting I have the damn PTT button pushed. Ugh.
Friggin’ awesome & hilarious. I love it.
SWEET, finally well I’m in for 2 at amazon already, man my cart is filling up quick, just got a few of the hideen wii gems posted earlier. Finally i wont hav any fellow raiders laggin behind. Communication is Key, bout time Wow addressed these issues, good find!
Make some Monkey Island headphones, and I’m there.
Those Headphones look nice. Blizz’s merch’d clothing, keyboards, laptops, coffee mugs, energy drinks, and even internet security devices. I guess a pair of gaming headphones weren’t too much of a surprise. All I need now is a WoW themed job!
